Places to Go in Animal Crossing: City Folk

In Animal Crossing: City Folk, there are a number of public buildings and locations in your town. Each one has its own role and purpose in the game. Here I have listed the main things you will need to know about them.

Nook's Store

Nook’s Store is the main location in Animal Crossing. It is where you obtain most of your money (called Bells), and where you purchase tools, flowers, furniture, and other important game items. Tom Nook, the enterprising raccoon who owns this store, is also the one who sells you your house at the beginning of the game. Nook’s Store will undergo three upgrades throughout Animal Crossing, but it begins as a small wooden shack called “Nook’s Cranny”.

The Town Hall

The Town Hall is your Mayor’s workplace, along with his two pelican employees, Pelly and Phyllis. It has several vital purposes in the game-it allows you to save up money and pay off your debt to Tom Nook (mentioned above), as well as sending letters to other players and villagers in your town. Also at this vital location, you can discard unwanted items, donate to the town fund, and more! Just outside the Town Hall, there is a bulletin board which allows the player to post messages to other players in town, and see what’s coming up in this exciting world.

Able Sisters

If you want fresh new apparel, come to Able Sisters, your local clothing and design shop! Run by Sable and Mabel, the hedgehog sisters, Able Sisters is a great place to find the latest fashions, as well as create some of your own! By talking to Mabel, the player can make their own patterns, called “designs,” which can then be turned into shirts, hats, and umbrellas. This store will even let you share your designs with other players by putting them in the display area, located in the center of the building.

The Museum

The Museum is a large building, full of potential but sadly, empty. What can you do? Fill it up, of course! Bugs, fish, fossils and paintings can be donated to the museum, after you find and get them. It is run by an owl named Blathers, and the player talks to him when they wish to donate items. The museum also contains a second floor, where the player can create their own constellations, and a quaint little coffee shop called the Roost, where live music is performed every Saturday night.

The Bus Stop

If you hunger for city life and experiences, take a walk to the bus stop. It can take you to a whole new world of fun, the City! Your local bus driver, Kapp’n, will give you a free ride to the bustling City, where you can buy some new clothes, get your hair done, or visit that shop in the alley everyone calls “a little sketchy”. Whichever you choose, the Bus Stop can get you there.

The Town Gate

The Town Gate’s main purpose is to let you access other players’ towns using Nintendo WFC, but, as this feature was discontinued, the Gate now serves mainly as a Lost and Found. Also, the player can change the town Flag (located outside the Town Gate) by talking to Booker, one of the two guards there.
